All About Stabilizer Bars 08/2014
As any employer knows, employee safety is a top priority. City and utility workers dedicate their time and energy serving the needs of the community. Often, this means that they have to put themselves in some level of danger to help the community continue to function properly. While there are many dedicated workers that are willing to put themselves at risk to serve the community, it is in everyone's best interest to protect the safety of these workers while still making it possible for them to do their jobs. For this reason, SW Services created the patented stabilizer bar which protects the safety of the utility worker while they are accessing large water valves.
Most people do not give much consideration to where our water comes from when it comes out of the faucet, or where it goes when it goes down the drain. We turn the handle, and expect there to be water. All of our water comes from city sources that run in pipes all around the city, under streets, to carry water to homes and businesses. When there is a problem with the water supply, or routine maintenance is needed, utility workers have to go down into street level access points (manholes) to get to the large water valves. When a worker goes down into a manhole, the area where the water valve is housed is often damp, dark and precarious. They climb down ladders that can be slippery and, with limited visibility, put themselves at risk of slipping and falling or injuring themselves in some way. SW Services stabilizer bars make the job much easier, and more important, much safer. Made of galvanized steel, the stabilizer bar adjusts and attaches to the sides of the manhole and allows the utility worker to extend tools down into the manhole and access the water valve without ever having to go down into the manhole. This protects the workers from unnecessary risk of injury and allows workers to more quickly shut off water valves which saves time during emergencies. With stabilizer bars, utility workers will no longer have to worry if temperatures, chemicals or other elements could be making descending into a manhole dangerous, they will simply do their job from the street level, and do it more efficiently. This is an immense benefit to employers as well because it will reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries, which can be very costly for employers. Stabilizer bars are an inexpensive way for employers to keep their employees safe and still get the job done in an efficient way.
